Wind Energy Project Has No Ships

A wind energy project needs ships for transportation. At this point, they are out of luck, which slows the project down, and there does not seem to be a short-term solution.

The project is Equinor’s 810-megawatt Empire Wind project, which operates off the coast of New York’s Long Island. HeatMap AM says “The developers can’t get hold of the specially-made vessel for installing wind turbines, which it was counting on having by next year. “

There is a dispute between the companies that are supposed to build the specialized vessel.

The project has gotten off the ground, even though the Trump Administration can do everything in its power to shut down offshore wind projects. One, run by Ordsted, was killed. The company had to lay off 25% of its people. Other wind companies won’t even consider entering the business of working offshore near the US

Air Conditioning And AI

The challenge the US has now is that there is, or soon will be, a shortage of renewable energy. Part of this is AI data centers, part is crypto mining, and the other is increased air conditioning use.

Because of these shortages, the US has started to return to coal to generate electricity. This means the chance that America’s position as the largest polluter in the world behind China will not go away.

And, it means the battle for electricity will only get harder.
