Meta today announced a $600 billion, five-year plan to build the world’s largest AI compute network across the United States, surpassing the combined 2025 capital expenditures of Microsoft, Amazon, and Google.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who launched it from the floor of a newly energized 1.2 GW substation outside Las Vegas, announced the immediate deployment of 18 hyperscale AI campuses, totaling 47 million square feet and 28 GW of new power load, by 2028.

Huge Launch

The build out includes:

  • $425 billion for data center construction and equipment
  • $110 billion for domestic high-voltage transmission and substation upgrades
  • $65 billion for workforce training and 340,000 direct jobs

The first four sites will launch immediately. They are in

  1. Primm, Nevada (4.8 GW)
  2. Waukee, Iowa (3.9 GW)
  3. Abilene, Texas (5.1 GW)
  4. Chesterfield County, Virginia (3.2 GW)

The White House praised the move as “the single largest vote of confidence in American infrastructure since the New Deal.” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent called it “exactly the private-sector shock therapy our grid needs.”
