Battery Layoffs Start
The battering of the EV industry has started to take jobs in battery plants. There is no reason to believe this will get better in the next two years. It will take that long for EV sales to restart
According to HeatMap AM, “Auto parts manufacturer Dana Incorporated laid off more than 100 employees from its electric vehicle battery factory in Auburn Hills, Michigan, last week, as the Trump administration’s funding cuts begin to take effect in the broader economy.”
The sector employs thousands of people, so this is just the beginning.
Just a few years ago, it was assumed that the needs for batteries for electric vehicles would be huge. The Biden Administration said 50% of all new cars sold in the US by 2030 would be electric.
EV Meltdown
Many car companies agreed with the Biden figure. Ford tooled up $30 billion to get into the business. GM and other legacy car companies made similar investments.
The EV industry is cooked. And, so are the related industries.
