Sun And Wind Aren’t Always On

The dirty little secret of the two primary green energies is that they do not work all of the time. Even though energy from solar and wind can be stored in batteries for future use, it is a disadvantage to fossil fuels. The coal people can say they are always on.

The problem creates a dilemma for electricity generation in the U.S. because it has been assumed for decades that solar and wind were the key to a green electric transition Now that the demand for electricity has soared, this assumption about how it was to be supplied has been proven wrong.

Bloomberg reports that there is insurance for energy companies that have the problem of intermittent operations, but ultimately, that is not the point. The point is that the customer has more risk than the provider does.

Kuwait And India

Ironically, among the reasons for power interruption with solar and wind is climate change. It can cause cloud cover (although it may be air pollution) and an alteration in wind panels. The news organization mentions Kuwait and India, where the effects of the problems are extremely broad

The fact that wind and solar have this problem is not just a financial one. In some parts of the world, it is an existential one as well, which is bad for the environment. When one of these two sources of energy becomes financially risky or is turned down because it is unreliable, fossil fuels are the only alternative.

This moves the focus to nuclear energy and improvements like small modular reactors. Nuclear energy growth could be supercharged as wind and solar installation production falls short of the necessary levels. If nuclear is not built out quickly, the enormous problem with electricity will get worse

Wind and solar have an Achilles heel, which means access to electricity does, too.
